Before you start
- You need a server. New servers support this automatically. For older ones, request setup through a support ticket.
Step by step
- Choose a server and enter the full subdomain (e.g. blog.example.com). Optionally set a folder (docroot) under /var/www.
- Click create. Then add a DNS A record for the subdomain pointing to the server IP.
- Once DNS has updated, click "Issue SSL".
- Click "Settings" on a subdomain: choose the PHP version and limits (memory, max upload, execution time). Empty means the server default.
- Redirects: add 301/302 rules from a path to a URL, e.g. /old-page → /new-page.
- Protection: password-protect a path (e.g. /admin or /staging) with a username and a password of at least 8 characters.
- Turn on hotlink protection so other sites cannot show your images, and the image optimizer for lighter images.
Common questions
- "SSL failed".
- The DNS A record does not point to this server yet. Check it and try again shortly.
